Job Description - Assistant Coordinator - Gatekeeping

Job Overview 


This position is responsible for managing a team of admissions cashiers, assisting with resolving ticketing problems, equipment issues, and customer complaints and concerns.


 


Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:  



  • Greets cashiers at the beginning of their shifts.

  • Assigns cashiers to workstations and checks that all supplies and equipment are plentiful and in working order.

  • Assists with customer questions, complaints, or concerns, providing customer service in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Helps with setting up, maintaining, and tearing down cashier and booths.

  • Models the behaviors, procedures, and processes expected of the team.

  • Performs other tasks as requested or assigned.

  • Maintains a professional appearance in compliance with uniform guidelines.

  • Occasionally operates a ticket booth, if needed.

  • Supports with balancing out cashiers at end of shift.

  • Gives direction and offers correction as needed.

  • Holds an informal pre-shift meeting with cashiers.



Qualifications 




    • Excellent interpersonal skills, good judgement, professionalism, organizational and problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude

    • Ability to interact with patrons in a calm, pleasant, professional manner to address concerns.

    • Open availability for the run of the San Diego County Fair.

    • Experience with the Box Office (Ticketing) Department a plus.

    • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.

    • Ability to adapt to change and make decisions under pressure.


     


    Working Conditions 



    • Work is performed in an outdoor setting with moderate to high noise levels.

    • Work may entail walking several miles a shift to check in on all ticket booths and kiosks stations.

    • At times work involves dealing with rude and irritated customers in a polite and calm manner to try and resolve issues and concerns.

    • Must be able to address issues with cashiers or gate attendants as needed when they are not following rules and/or procedures.

    • Ability to adapt to changing situations as needed.

    • Regular exposure to hot/cold climates.
