Athletic Coach - High School Cheer

Description

In collaboration with the athletic director, the high school cheer coach is responsible for the comprehensive administration of the high school cheer program. This includes overseeing all aspects of the program, such as discipling and mentoring student-athletes, fostering positive parent relations, managing schedules, coordinating travel, and maintaining the program’s budget. The Head Coach is expected to lead with integrity, upholding the highest standards of conduct and exemplifying the core values of CAK.

Requirements

• Provide appropriate training, discipline, and coaching that leads to a highly competitive program; evaluate individual student athletes and develop a coaching plan that takes student-athletes to their full potential.
• Work closely with high school and middle school coaches to build programs and develop coaching plans.
• Develop individual and team skills through well-planned training and positive reinforcement.
• Communicate proactively with student-athletes and parents/guardians as appropriate regarding expectations, camps, practices, and game schedules.
• Supervise student-athletes before and after practices/games.
• Supervise all areas of participation, including but not limited to gyms, fields, arenas, theaters, locker or dressing rooms, buses, etc.
• Issue equipment and uniforms to student athletes, ensuring all equipment is maintained properly and uniforms are returned.
• Attend all games (both home and away) continuing through the conclusion of any post-season tournament(s).
• Set up facilities in preparation for practice, games, and events.
• Conduct pre-season conditioning and practices.
• May be asked to operate school vehicle to games/events.
• Attend all professional development and coach meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
• Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential and sensitive student/family matters.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• CPR, AED, First Aid certification. 
• Maintains compliance with all TSSAA rules and regulations.
• Complies with and supports all CAK policies.
• Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

The Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) coach must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the school's mission and philosophy. The coach must also be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity and the leadership abilities to teach God’s truth. Skills in effective communication with diverse individuals, appropriately handling confidential information, and maintaining a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are prerequisites.
