Description
The Middle School Dance Team Coach collaborates closely with the Building Principal, Assistant Principal, and Building Lead, ensuring seamless communication with administration staff, faculty, students, and parents. This position involves planning and leading all practices, choreographing routines, preparing the team for games/performances, and managing logistics such as schedules, travel, and uniforms. The coach fosters a positive team environment that promotes skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Expertise in dance is essential, and prior experience as a dance coach or instructor is strongly preferred.
Requirements
Demonstrate knowledge of coaching best practices.
Promptly submit all required records, reports, evaluations, and inventories.
Manage the dance team practice and schedule, ensuring it is updated in the school-wide calendar.
Maintain accurate records of team rosters, expenses, and other details for proper billing.
Report finalized dance team fees to the business office promptly.
Communicate team standards, schedules, and fees clearly to the supervisor and team families.
Collaborate with the supervisor and school staff to secure practice locations and times.
Provide a structured and productive practice environment.
Handle disciplinary measures related to team standards and procedures.
Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate behavior befitting the role.
Exhibit reliability, punctuality, flexibility, and effective time management.
Develop team-related goals and objectives.
Value and support all members of the school community.
Uphold a professional attitude and remain loyal to the school.
Research, promote, and offer opportunities for skill development relevant to dance.
Follow concussion policies for all students and communicate with teachers during protocol adherence.
Comply with all school policies outlined in the CAK Employee Handbook.
Attend and actively participate in professional conferences, lectures, and educational events related to dance.
Take part in end-of-season program evaluations with the supervisor.
Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Middle School Principal.
Responsibilities to Parents and the Community:
Host a preseason meeting with parents to review team standards, schedules, and plans while addressing questions.
Respond promptly to parent phone calls and emails.
Maintain confidentiality in all parent-related matters.
Promote positive parent-coach relationships.
Serve as a positive role model within the community.
The Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) coach must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the school's mission and philosophy. The coach must also be a born-again Christian with spiritual maturity and the leadership abilities to teach God’s truth. Skills in effective communication with diverse individuals, appropriately handling confidential information, and maintaining a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are prerequisites.
