Job Description - Athletics Administrative Assistant (Temporary)


The Temporary Athletics Administrative Assistant at Monte Vista Christian School provides short-term assistance to ensure the Athletics department operates smoothly and effectively. This support helps maintain a high standard of organization, communication, and program quality across all sports and activities, while upholding MVC’s mission and values. 

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations including scheduling games and practices, coordinating transportation, and managing facilities.
  • Assist and supervise coaches to ensure they are well-supported and aligned with the school’s standards and Christian values.
  • Ensure all athletic programs follow school policies and league rules, including student eligibility, safety protocols, and risk management.
  • Organize logistics for athletic events, including communication with opposing schools, securing officials, and managing game-day operations.
  • Serve as a point of contact between school leadership, coaches, parents, and students to keep everyone informed and organized.
  • Model and promote Christian character, sportsmanship, and integrity in all aspects of athletic leadership.

Requirements

Any combination of education and/or relevant professional experience providing the necessary and required skill(s)/knowledge for successful job performance is acceptable:

  • Experience working in an athletic department setting or a high-demands office environment.
  • Familiarity with the “language of sports”.
  • Proficient with Google Workplace (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Forms, etc.) and other departmental software suites & programs (training to be provided where needed).
  • Able to work in a complex and dynamic team-oriented environment in order to accomplish multiple goals and objectives.
  • Outstanding organizational and highly detail-oriented capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service oriented instincts/skills.
  • Flexibility to work occasional hours outside normal business/school hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to keep an exceedingly high level of confidentiality.

Physical Requirements:

  •  Ability to safely lift up to 25+ lbs. 
  • Ability to operate relevant office equipment.
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, and/or squat for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work outside periodically, over multiple terrains, and in varying weather conditions, as needed.

Additionally, the employee agrees that he/she shall do nothing to his/her relationship with MVC to undermine its Christian mission or efforts. Finally, the employee further agrees and understands that his/her services are a necessary part of MVC’s Christian work, and that his/her conduct must conform to the school’s formal Standards of Conduct and Statement of Faith, as listed in both the school’s employment application and MVC Employee Handbook.

At Will Employment

Employee understands and acknowledges that, unless otherwise defined by applicable law, any employment relationship with MVC is of an “at will” nature, which means that the Employee may resign at any time and the Employer may discharge the Employee at any time, with or without cause. It is further understood that this “at will” employment relationship may not be changed by any written document or by conduct, unless the MVC Head of School specifically acknowledges such change in writing.
