ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION 

Canal Alliance exists to break the generational cycle of poverty for Latino immigrants and their families by lifting barriers to their success. POSITION SUMMARY 

The Bank of America (BOA) Student Leaders Internship is a dynamic leadership experience designed to align with the goals of the Student Leaders program. This position offers meaningful, hands-on exposure to the mission, vision, and values of Canal Alliance, and is ideal for students seeking to develop practical skills and gain real-world experience in the nonprofit or community-based sector. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Learn about grant writing, outreach, marketing, appeals, and budgeting processes. 
  • Attend team meetings across various leadership groups to gain insight into organizational decision-making. 
  • Participate in or observe board meetings and one-on-one board engagements. 
  • Assist in coordinating and understanding volunteer programs, including recruitment and day-to-day support. 
  • Contribute to or observe direct program activities such as research, service delivery, curriculum development, and community engagement. 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Can work Monday- Thursday and if necessary, occasionally Saturdays 
  • Can attend Washington D.C trip for the week of July 21st  
  • Available 8 hours per week with the ability to occasionally adjust schedule to accommodate evening and weekend events 
  • Have a car or a reliable means of transportation; 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES 

  • Passion and commitment to social justice;  
  • Interest in learning about the Canal community and organization community work; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;  
  • Positive and collaborative attitude;  
  • Effective time management and work organization skills, with a high attention to detail;  
  • Knowledge of Latino, immigrant, or low-income communities; 
  • Experience with Google Drive, Microsoft, Zoom  

Requirements

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

This is a part-time, non-exempt position that is not eligible for benefits. 

Salary: $22.50 per hour 

LOCATION 

This position is in-person at our San Rafael office and in the Canal Community.
