Requirements:
• High school diploma/GED or higher level educational attainment.
• CPR Certification (AHA)
• Valid CPI Blue Card - Current certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) with Advanced Physical Skills
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with the Seriously Mentally Ill (SMI) adults in short or long-term psychiatric inpatient or residential treatment facilities.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and support patients in a psychiatric hospital setting.
• Consult with clinical staff in the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients and residents.
• Assist in the implementation of treatment behavior management plans.
• Provide specialized care and security to patients and residents to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Observe, interact and guide patients and residents, redirect inappropriate behaviors, and model appropriate behaviors.
• Respond to incidents which may require physical intervention.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage patient aggression and crises.
• Escort patients to appointments, therapy sessions, and supervised outings.
• Assist with basic hygiene, nutrition and other daily living activities necessitated by a patient’s diminished mental capacity or physical health.
• Ensure communication of information between shifts regarding patient and resident behavior changes and program operations.
• Inspect patient and resident rooms for cleanliness, order, contraband, etc. and assist with the search of persons and rooms for contraband.
• Participate in team meetings and provide feedback on patient progress.
• Adhere to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards in patient care.
