Under the direction of the Camp Director the Camp Character Ambassador helps staff implement character building activities and rituals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary trainer for counselors on the “Character Camp Pocket Guide” during staff orientation.
Facilitate interactive training sessions, workshops and discussions to help staff integrate character-building strategies into their daily interactions with campers.
Act as a resource and mentor for staff, providing guidance on how to model and encourage positive character development among campers.
Observe and provide feedback to counselors on their implementation of the pocket guide strategies and programs.
Work throughout the summer to develop a customized character-building resource tailored to the specific needs, traditions and culture of camp.
Collaborate with camp leadership and staff to gather input, ensuring the resource is reflective of the camp community.
Submit a mid-summer reflection and end of summer reflection of your role to FJC (Foundation for Jewish Camp).
Attend pre-summer training with FJC.
Immediately inform Camp Director of any concerns that arise with campers, staff, parents/guardians, and/or community members.
Communicate regularly with the Camp Director and other members of the Camp Leadership Team; share recommendations with the Camp Director on an ongoing basis.
Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC
Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience: Experience and/or training working with children required. Past experience at J Camp preferred.
Other Skills: Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children, through an approved certifying body. Openness to learning
Washington State Pay Range: $19.00/hour to $ 20.00/hour depending on experience
Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including but not limited to, skills, relevant experience, and specific work location.
