Job Title: Ropes Coordinator

FLSA Status: Seasonal |May - August

 Pay Rate: Stipend: $ 425-500/week (Sun-Fri) Room and Board Provided 

Reports to: Director of Camping and Outdoor Education Revision Date: 11-1-2023

POSITION SUMMARY:  What better way to spend your summer days than swinging high off the ground on our v-swing, or the breeze blowing through your hair ziplining over the lake. We’re looking for an exceptional leader who wants to specialize in all things ropes related. You will be a part of Leadership Team and lead staff in properly running ropes activities high and low with safety in mind. Implement skill progression to assist campers in their growth of ropes knowledge. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Lead staff and campers in safety and proper use of equipment and elements by creating fun and challenging skill progression 

2. Maintain proper record keeping for all equipment, course usage, and staff facilitation

3. Supervise and lead campers at ropes activities: Zipline, High Ropes Course, Power Pole, V-Swing, Tree Climbing, Low Ropes, Knots

4. Ability to plan and execute an Emergency Action Plan

5. Coordinate with activity specialist and directors on programing

6. Provide direct supervision to youth and staff while teaching and leading activities

7. Facilitate ropes, target sports, aquatics, and many more camp activities 

8. Schedule and facilitate regular in-services for staff. 

9. Support all program areas, campers and staff when needed. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be 21 years of age or older and have at least 2 years camp experience or equivalent

2. Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA.

3. This position requires experience working with youth ages 5-16

4. Proven leadership experience

5. ACCT Certification or proven ropes experience

6. Have or obtain First Aid, CPR, Lifeguard and Ropes Certification (we will train) 

7. Willingness to have fun, laugh, and be silly with a love of the outdoors

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be able to provide a physical exam by a medical provider

2. Must be able to see, hear, and speak clearly.

3. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

4. Must be in good health, able to bend, stand, stoop, walk, climb and work outside in all terrain and weather conditions for extended periods of time. 

5. Must be able to comprehend and communicate written and or verbal instructions.

6. Comfortable working at heights and around water.
