Job Overview We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Certified Flagger to join our team to manage traffic around construction sites or roadwork zones. The certified flagger will be responsible for ensuring the safety of workers and the public by directing vehicles and pedestrians effectively while maintaining compliance with state and local regulations. Key Responsibilities
Set up safety equipment such as cones, barricades, and signs to properly mark off construction zones.
Direct traffic and pedestrians using appropriate hand signals, flags, and communication tools.
Monitor traffic flow to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of workers, drivers, and pedestrians.
Communicate effectively with construction crews to relay important traffic-related information.
Perform duties in varying weather conditions while maintaining high situational awareness.
Adhere to all relevant traffic control practices, safety protocols, and regulations.
Qualifications
Must have a Certified Flagger certification from a recognized authority.
Knowledgeable in state and local traffic regulations and safety procedures.
Ability to work in diverse environmental conditions, including extreme weather and various traffic volumes.
Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear instructions to drivers and pedestrians.
Ability to maintain focus and alertness in a high-traffic environment.
Prior experience in traffic control or construction zones is preferred but not required.
Certification and Training Requirements
Successful completion of an approved flagger training program, covering traffic control practices, safety protocols, and the use of flagging equipment.
Flagging certification is typically valid for a set period and may require periodic renewal or re-certification.
