Needed! Contract Character Concept Artist!

Turtle Rock is seeking a skilled Character Concept Artist with a realistic art style to do contract work with our team.

Can you bring characters to life by integrating personality, history, and storytelling through clothing, gear, and overall design? If you're passionate about creating grounded, believable characters that feel authentic to their world, we'd love to see your work!

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality concept art for characters, including clothing, gear, and accessories, aligned with the project’s artistic vision and narrative themes


• Develop designs that reflect personality, history, and storytelling, making characters feel grounded and believable


• Work closely with Art Directors, Character Artists, and other team members to ensure concepts meet both artistic and technical requirements


• Iterate on feedback quickly and effectively, maintaining quality and consistency throughout the design process


• Contribute to mood boards, style guides, and visual development materials as needed

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Character Concept Artist in a AAA game development environment (portfolio required)


• Strong portfolio demonstrating a realistic art style, with emphasis on character design


• Strong understanding of realistic anatomy, clothing, and material rendering


• Ability to create visually compelling designs that communicate narrative and world-building elements


• Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Photoshop, Procreate, or similar software


• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
