Job Title: Civil Quality Control Inspector (Soils & Concrete) Location: Kingston, TN (Project-Based) Hourly Rate: Depending on Experience. Summary: We are seeking an experienced Civil Quality Control Inspector to support industrial construction activities including earthwork, reinforcing steel installation, concrete placement, and grout installation. This position is field-based and may require travel depending on project needs. The Civil QC Inspector will be responsible for monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Inspect excavation and subgrade preparation
Perform or witness in-place density testing
Verify lift thickness and compaction requirements
Inspect reinforcing steel placement prior to concrete pours
Verify anchor bolt locations, embedment’s, and layout
Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Perform field concrete testing (slump, air content, temperature, unit weight as required)
Cast and manage concrete test cylinders
Monitor concrete placement, consolidation, finishing, and curing
Inspect grout installation for equipment foundations and baseplates
Complete daily inspection reports and maintain quality documentation
Identify and document nonconformances as required
Coordinate with project management and client representatives
Qualifications:
3+ years of field experience in civil construction inspection
Strong working knowledge of soils, rebar placement, foundations, and grout installation
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong documentation and communication skills
Able to pass background screens and drug/alcohol testing as required by our customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
American Concrete Institute Concrete Field Testing Technician
ICC Soils or Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
American Welding Society CWI
Experience working in power plants (nuclear, fossil fuel, natural gas, etc.)
Physical Requirements Employees must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
Perform sustained physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing, and working extended shifts
Lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, and equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs.
Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and work in varied body positions
Work at heights and in confined or restricted spaces
Work in outdoor and indoor environments under varying weather and site conditions
Work on uneven, slippery, or rough terrain in active industrial or construction settings
Wear required personal protective equipment as required
Maintain situational awareness and communicate effectively to work safely around moving equipment and hazards
