Job Description - Data Collection Specialist

Description

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, mission-driven professional who is passionate about data accuracy, public safety, and meaningful government work. If you thrive on navigating complex legal information, collaborating across agencies, and ensuring critical data is correct and complete, this role is for you.

At CSpring, we believe that data, technology, and human connection can transform lives. As a Data Collection Specialist embedded within the Indiana Department of Correction’s Sex and Violent Offender Registration and Victim Services Division, you’ll contribute directly to a safer Indiana by supporting the Department’s statutory responsibilities.

This is more than a data entry job—it’s an opportunity to engage with the legal system, help maintain public trust, and ensure the information that drives public safety decisions is accurate and complete.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Make a Tangible Impact – Your work directly supports public safety and community wellbeing through data integrity and legal compliance.
  • People-First Culture – At CSpring, we care about the whole person. We support your growth, wellbeing, and goals.
  • Public Service with Purpose – Be part of meaningful government work that matters to citizens every day.
  • Trusted Partnerships – You’ll work alongside state leaders and law enforcement professionals in a trusted, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

As a Data Collection Specialist, you’ll work with the Department of Correction to gather, analyze, and enter information related to sex and violent offender registration. You will regularly interpret court documents, engage with law enforcement, and ensure data systems reflect timely and accurate information.

  • Research, obtain, and review legal and court documents related to offender registration.
  • Analyze and interpret sensitive legal information in alignment with Indiana Criminal Code.
  • Communicate with local and state law enforcement to verify or collect additional documentation.
  • Accurately enter data into a designated web portal and other state data systems.
  • Collaborate with Division staff and other stakeholders to complete related duties.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and confidentiality with sensitive public safety data.

Requirements

We’re looking for a disciplined, collaborative professional with a strong attention to detail, high integrity, and the ability to navigate complex systems independently.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Strong experience with data collection and data entry.
  • Familiarity with Indiana Criminal Code and justice system structures.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting court documents and legal terminology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and manage sensitive material related to criminal offenses.
  • Ability to maintain discretion when working with confidential information.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with government personnel and external agencies.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in criminal justice, legal, or public safety environments.
  • Familiarity with criminal history records: Triple Is, probable cause affidavits, conviction/sentencing docs, presentence investigation reports, court orders.
  • Experience working in or alongside public sector or law enforcement agencies.
  • Research experience.
  • Master’s degree.

This is an independent role requiring consistent accuracy, judgment, and discretion. The work involves handling multiple priorities, interpreting complex and sensitive material, and delivering results that directly affect public safety outcomes and Department credibility. Your work will be periodically reviewed for compliance with policy and impact on broader Department goals.

At CSpring, we unlock potential in people and data. You’ll be part of a supportive, mission-focused team that values connection, service, and professional growth. If you want your data skills to support something bigger—and you’re ready to grow with a company that cares—apply today
