Job Description - Database Administrator




  • Help design, build and continuously improve the clients online platform.

  • Research, suggest and implement new technology solutions following best practices/standards.

  • Take responsibility for the resiliency and availability of different products.

Requirements

Job Description:

The primary focus will be on supporting the City’s Payroll Management System (PMS) and Pension Payroll Management System (PPMS). This role involves overseeing the installation, configuration, and performance tuning of DB2 databases to ensure optimal system efficiency. Key responsibilities include developing and validating standardized procedures for database processes, proactively identifying issues, and implementing updates or modifications to DB2 programs.

The candidate will also coordinate closely with Technical Support to prepare elements for production migration, providing precise instructions for execution. Additional duties include assisting system teams with tool upgrades and actively participating in Disaster Recovery exercises.





Required Skills:




  • Hands-on experience with IBM IMS V12 (or higher) database management.

  • Proficient in core database administration tasks, including backup/recovery, reorganizations, and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with CICS Transaction Server operations.

  • Skilled in writing REXX scripts.

  • Capable of analyzing and troubleshooting assembler code.

  • Experience resolving issues related to DB2 integration in COBOL programs.

  • Ability to design and implement solutions using Oracle Transparent Gateway.

  • Proficiency in deploying and configuring BMC BPPM Monitoring tools.

  • Experience installing and troubleshooting IBM Tivoli LDAP Server on AIX systems.

  • Proven ability to work with application teams to develop and maintain data propagation solutions using IBM InfoSphere Replication Server.

  • Experience in installing and managing DB2 databases on AIX platforms.

  • Strong background supporting large-scale, enterprise-level financial and payroll systems built on third-party, off-the-shelf frameworks.

Education:



  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical/business field is required.
