Requirements
• Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant training program
• Current Dental Assistant registration in the State of Washington
• Current CPR/BLS certification (AHA-approved)
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or dental office setting (correctional preferred)
• Knowledge of infection control and instrument sterilization procedures
• Familiarity with NCCHC standards and security protocols in correctional healthcare
• Ability to work effectively in a secure, fast-paced clinical setting
• Must pass background check and drug screening
Responsibilities
• Assist the dentist with procedures such as restorations, extractions, and cleanings, following clinical and safety protocols.
• Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and exam areas in accordance with sterilization standards.
• Support patient intake, documentation, and dental charting in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Ensure timely and accurate data entry into electronic dental records in alignment with facility and regulatory documentation standards.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and NCCHC guidelines.
• Manage dental supply inventory and ensure readiness of clinical materials.
• Monitor and support patient comfort and safety during procedures.
• Coordinate with custody staff and healthcare team to ensure timely access to dental services.
• Provide post-procedure instructions and reinforce oral hygiene practices as directed.
