Adelphi is seeking a licensed Dentist to provide on-site clinical services at a central dental clinic serving youth from multiple secure residential facilities in Columbia, SC. The ideal candidate will work primarily with male youth between the ages of twelve (12) to twenty-one (21) to provide direct patient care, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and treatment planning.

Requirements:
• Valid South Carolina Dental License (State Board of Dentistry)
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youths preferred
• Comfortable providing care to a population with behavioral health considerations
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary team
• Familiarity with EHR systems; current use of Medicat, with transition planned
• A full-time dental assistant and fully equipped clinic support in all procedures
Responsibilities:
• Provide on-site dental care—evaluation, diagnosis, treatment & planning—for youth at a central clinic serving multiple secure facilities.
• Perform dental examinations and diagnoses using X-rays, including Panorex, Bitewing, and Peri-apical films.
• Place composite fillings with precision and care.
• Administer local anesthesia for various dental procedures.
• Apply dental sealants as preventive care.
• Provide dental cleanings, exams, and fluoride treatments.
• Conduct calculus debridement when clinically indicated.
• Prepare and place crowns (PFM or gold) in coordination with a dental lab.
• Perform simple extractions or refer as needed based on complexity.
• Provide comprehensive dental care to a minimum of 5 patients per day.
• Review and approve external provider treatment orders as needed.
• Refer out third molar extractions, root canals, and orthodontic cases as per agency protocol.
• Develop, review, and update dental policies and procedures.
• Serve as the Dental Director, overseeing clinical dental operations.
