Job Description - Deployment Specialist Generator Maintenance (Temporary / OT / Statewide Travel)

We are hiring Deployment Specialists to join our Generator Maintenance team on a temporary 8-week field assignment supporting critical telecommunications infrastructure throughout California. This hands-on role involves deploying, fueling, retrieving, and maintaining portable generator units at remote and urban job sites. Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and comfortable with heavy travel and physically demanding field work.


This is a W-2 hourly position eligible for full overtime and double time pay in accordance with California Labor Law




Key Responsibilities



  • Deploy and retrieve portable generators to and from assigned job sites.

  • Perform scheduled refueling and preventative maintenance on generator units.

  • Operate trailers, light-duty trucks, and lifting equipment for generator transport.

  • Maintain fuel logs, service records, and documentation per company protocols.

  • Coordinate with dispatch and logistics teams for routing, site access, and reporting.

  • Ensure proper handling of equipment and fuel in line with Cal/OSHA and company safety procedures.

  • Work in outdoor environments and challenging weather conditions as required.




Qualifications


Education:



  • High school diploma or GED

  • Vocational or technical training preferred (mechanical or electrical)


Certifications Required:



  • OSHA 10

  • CPR Certification

  • First Aid Certification

  • Forklift Training


Experience Preferred:



  • 2–5 years in generator field service, mobile equipment operations, or telecom deployment

  • Experience with heavy lifting, basic mechanical troubleshooting, and outdoor job sites




Physical Requirements



  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 lbs

  • Operate equipment and heavy machinery

  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed

  • Use hand tools and fine motor controls

  • Visual acuity for equipment monitoring and documentation

  • Extended travel and independent field work

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently statewide




Working Conditions



  • Work near moving mechanical parts

  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals

  • Outdoor environments: heat, cold, humidity, and loud noise

  • Risk of electrical shock

  • Regular use of PPE (e.g., gloves, hearing protection, respirators)




Pay & Legal Compliance



  • This position is classified as W-2, non-union, temporary hourly employment.

  • Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate after 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week.

  • Double time paid at 2x hourly rate after 12 hours/day or 8 hours on the 7th consecutive day (CA Labor Code § 510).

  • Rest breaks and meal periods provided in accordance with California Wage Order 16.

  • Full compliance with Cal/OSHA safety and environmental guidelines.
