We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Contract Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to join the nocturnal team at Whiteriver Indian Hospital, a 40-bed Indian Health Service (IHS) facility located in Whiteriver, Arizona. This is more than a typical contract assignment—it’s a chance to deliver high-quality emergency care to a culturally rich patient population in a setting where your expertise truly matters.

Position Highlights:

  • Minimum of 4 shifts per month 
  • 12-hour  shifts (7 pm – 7 am) 
  • Long-term contract with potential for extension 
  • Work authorized under any active, unrestricted U.S. medical license 
  • Open to both local and travel locum candidates 
  • Day or Night shifts available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive emergency care to patients of all ages 
  • Perform medical evaluations, diagnose conditions, and implement treatment plans 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including specialists, nurses, and support staff 
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records 
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives 
  • May provide guidance to support staff and contribute to departmental leadership
     

Additional Information:

Shift schedules may change based on patient volume and hospital needs. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary.

Prairie Band, LLC is subject to Title 22: Employment Code of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. In accordance with Title 22, this position is designated as a TIER 2 position. Preference will be given to qualified individuals as required pursuant to Section 22-2-4(B).

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
  •  Physicians must have completed an Emergency Medicine residency, or completed a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine or other residency with 1.5 years of Emergency Medicine experience.  
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)
  • Active, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in Emergency Medicine
  • Current and valid BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications will be required
  • Current DEA license with eligibility to prescribe medications
  • Certification of education (copy of diploma or transcripts required)
  • U.S. Citizenship and current residence in the continental United States
  • Must not require visa sponsorship (no visa holders or green card residents)
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Willingness to comply with all federal and state medical regulations
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • A valid driver’s license may be needed
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and culturally sensitive practice
  • Flexibility and adaptability to a changing clinical environment
