Rodriguez Consulting builds more than infrastructure. We build pathways for people and communities to grow. Our mission is to provide innovative and sustainable engineering and surveying solutions that improve quality of life and expand opportunity in the neighborhoods we serve. When you join our team, you become part of work that makes a visible difference across Philadelphia and beyond.
This role is based in our Fishtown office at The Center for Educational Excellence in Oxford Mills. The complex offers modern amenities, including two large free parking lots, the Gryphon Café, and a complimentary gym for employees and residents. The neighborhood is one of Philadelphia’s most dynamic, with a thriving commercial district, new residential buildings, and easy access to I-95, Girard Avenue, Frankford Avenue, the Ben Franklin Bridge, and SEPTA’s Market-Frankford Line.
Rodriguez Consulting is contributing to a citywide initiative that protects public health and modernizes Philadelphia’s infrastructure. As an Engineering Aide Trainee, you will help review historical water service connection records, many dating back over a century. These “tap cards” hold important details about service lines that may indicate the presence of lead. Working in our Fishtown headquarters, you will use a computer-based interface to review scanned records and confirm details that are critical to public health and infrastructure planning.
This is meticulous work that requires focus, patience, and attention to detail. It is also meaningful work, because your accuracy directly impacts lead remediation efforts and safer drinking water for Philadelphia residents. As a full-time trainee, you will gain exposure to engineering workflows, data validation processes, and infrastructure projects that matter. You will collaborate with technicians and engineers, receive on-the-job training, and build skills that can lead to future opportunities in engineering, utilities, and municipal projects.
Key Responsibilities
As an Engineering Aide Trainee, you will:
Review scanned historical service connection records, including handwritten and cursive entries.
Verify and correct information to ensure data is accurate and consistent.
Flag unclear or incomplete records for supervisor review.

Collaborate with technicians and engineers to support project success.
This opportunity is for you if you:
Have a high school diploma or GED
Are a Philadelphia resident (strongly encouraged to apply)
Have basic computer literacy, including comfort with spreadsheets and data entry
Can work at a desk for 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week
Pay close attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing information
Can read handwriting, including cursive, and interpret unclear records
Follow structured workflows and take direction from supervisors
Show reliable attendance and punctuality
Are comfortable working in a collaborative office environment
Are willing to learn new skills and adapt to project needs
Have experience with Google Sheets (Preferred) or Microsoft Excel
Compensation & Benefits
Paid, full-time position with consistent 40-hour workweeks
Hourly pay range of $19–$22 based on experience and skill readiness
Full Rodriguez employee benefits package, including health, dental, vision, retirement plan with employer match, paid time off, and access to Oxford Mills amenities (free parking, gym, and Gryphon Café)
On-the-job training in engineering-related data processing and quality control
Opportunity to work alongside experienced technicians and engineers
Exposure to industry-standard software tools and workflows
Valuable experience to strengthen your resume for future employment in engineering, utilities, or municipal projects
Direct contribution to a public health and infrastructure project benefiting Philadelphia communities
Please note: This is a temporary position anticipated to last one year, with the possibility of extension depending on project needs.
