Job Description - Financial Literacy Program Coordinator


Position Type: Contract Position
Contract Period: 12 months
Location: Eastern Shore of Maryland
Target Population: 200+ middle and high school students living in poverty
Program Focus: Evidence-based financial literacy education

Position Summary

The Financial Literacy Program Coordinator leads the implementation and delivery of evidence-based financial literacy education to middle school and high school aged youth living in poverty. This position requires developing and executing a comprehensive program that serves a minimum of 200 students through in-person instruction while collaborating with community partners and maintaining compliance with Results-Based Accountability (RBA) metrics.

Essential Functions

Program Development and Implementation

  • Design and implement evidence-based financial literacy curriculum using approved programs such as Banking On Our Future, Credit-Wise Cats, Financial Fitness for Life, JA Economics, or other evidence-based alternatives
  • Develop program strategy that addresses the specific needs of middle and high school students living in poverty
  • Create and maintain safe, stable learning environments for participant engagement
  • Establish program timeline focusing on programmatic, fiscal, and performance expectations
  • Ensure all programming incorporates trauma-informed practices and addresses Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

Community Partnership and Outreach

  • Collaborate with community partners to establish linkages to education, workforce development, and other resources
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to identify and enroll appropriate participants
  • Build relationships with local school boards for potential school-based services
  • Facilitate referrals to other community programs that support financial literacy education
  • Coordinate with local organizations to expand program reach and sustainability

Data Collection and Reporting

  • Implement Results-Based Accountability (RBA) framework to measure program effectiveness
  • Collect and analyze data on program participation, satisfaction, and outcomes
  • Conduct pre-program and post-program assessments to measure participant improvement
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial reports and quarterly performance reports
  • Maintain accurate records of all program activities and participant progress

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Participate in mandatory monthly vendor meetings
  • Coordinate quarterly site visits with funding organization staff
  • Ensure compliance with all contract terms and administrative requirements
  • Manage program budget and ensure cost-effective operations
  • Obtain written approval for any budget modifications or programming changes

Equity and Inclusion Initiatives

  • Develop and implement strategies to address racial and ethnic disparities
  • Create programming that intentionally reduces adverse childhood experiences
  • Incorporate trauma-informed practices throughout service delivery
  • Ensure program design meets the diverse needs of the target population

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Public Administration, Finance, or related field

Preferred Experience

  • Experience operating similar high-quality, cost-effective programs
  • Demonstrated experience with evidence-based programming and verifiable positive outcomes
  • Previous experience working with at-risk youth populations
  • Background in grant-funded program management

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of financial literacy principles and evidence-based curricula
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practices and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting using RBA framework
  • Experience with program evaluation and performance measurement
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and database management
