Job Description - Fraud Investigation Support Specialist

Booth Management Consulting, LLC (BMC) is a diverse CPA firm that provides accounting, auditing, and management consulting services to public and private clients nationwide. Position Summary


The Fraud Investigation Support Specialists will provide audit/fraud compliance and administrative support to the Bureau of Child Care Subsidy Administration, Program Integrity Section supervisors, and Milwaukee Early Care Administration (MECA) Lead Auditors and/or Fraud Investigators.



Key Responsibilities



  • Input recorded handwritten sign-in and sign-out times from childcare provider attendance records into a Microsoft Excel template spreadsheet and conduct Quality Assurance (QA) reviews of one's own work and the work of colleagues to ensure accuracy.

  • Interpret and apply statutes, administrative codes, policies, and procedures related to handwritten attendance records and identified patterns, trends, or pre-defined occurrences of fraud.

  • Notate and describe identified patterns, trends, or pre-defined occurrences of fraud.

  • Summarize findings to the lead auditor through verbal and written communications.

  • Ability to learn and understand complex data systems used to manage various public assistance programs (BRITS, CARES, Child Care Statewide Administration, Wisconsin Child Care Regulatory System, and Cares Worker Web), in order to successfully research necessary pieces of data, as requested by the lead auditor/investigator.

  • Accurately complete entries into computer systems and databases.

  • Electronically convert pre-selected workbooks from Excel to PDF documents.

  • Electronically locate and organize witness exhibits for upcoming appeal hearings for legal staff and lead auditors/investigators.

  • Contact employers via telephone and fax to verify employment for clients and childcare providers.

  • Assist in the review of client referrals to ensure they have been appropriately referred to MECA.

  • Assist in completing other special projects, as needed.



Experience & Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in auditing, compliance, and administrative support, preferably with direct exposure to fraud investigation.

  • Basic understanding of fraud principles and internal controls.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and data management tools, including data entry.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to be accurate and detailed.

  • Ability to successfully apply investigative methods and procedures.

  • Ability to analyze complex facts and documentation to reach a logical conclusion.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.




Trainings


Successful candidates will be given contractor investigator and auditor training upon hire.
