General Labor Job Description

Job Title: General Labor

Reports To: Supervisor/Lead

Position Status: Seasonal

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Nursery Assistant to join our plant nursery team. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has an interest in plants, and is willing to learn. No prior nursery experience is required—training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily care of plants, including watering, pruning, potting, and fertilizing


• Help receive, move, and organize plant stock


• Maintain cleanliness and organization of nursery areas, greenhouses, and workspaces


• Assist customers by answering basic questions and helping locate plants and supplies


• Monitor plants for signs of pests, disease, or stress and report issues to supervisors


• Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper tool and equipment use


• Support seasonal tasks such as planting, labeling, and preparing plants for sale

Requirements

• Interest in plants, gardening, or horticulture


• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions


• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods


• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions


• Positive attitude and willingness to learn


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Work may be performed during environmental extremes including but not limited to light rain and in high humidity and in freezing or high temperatures.


• May be required to work when crops are wet with dew/rain and should have suitable clothing for variable weather conditions


• Must be able to walk across uneven terrain.

Other Requirements:

• Due to this position being an agriculture growing position, you may be required to work 7 days a week depending on seasonal growing conditions.


• Must go through annual WPS training
