Grant and Capital Fund Accountant

Position Summary

The Grant and Capital Fund Accountant
is responsible for the accurate accounting and reporting of federal capital funds and other grant-based programs. This role ensures compliance with HUD Capital Fund Program requirements, maintains grant ledgers, and supports budget, audit, and programmatic closeout processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain detailed subsidiary ledgers for all capital fund grants, development funds, and other federally funded projects.


• Track expenditures, encumbrances, and unspent balances for each grant award.


• Prepare the Excess/Deficiency of Advance schedule for active grant programs.


• Reconcile grant funds monthly to the general ledger and prepare quarterly status reports.


• Assist with closeout packages and grant compliance reporting.


• Support audits by preparing grant schedules, documentation, and compliance checklists.
  

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Public Administration.


• 3–5 years of experience in grant or capital project accounting.


• Knowledge of HUD Capital Fund regulations, eLOCCS system, and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).


• Good written and verbal communication skills.


• Strong analytical skills; Proficiency with MS Office.
