Grounds & Facility Maintenance - Seasonal

Hampshire Township Park District is gearing up for 2026! We have multiple openings for people who are interested in working in our Parks Department performing Grounds & Facility Maintenance. We have four seasonal openings for our 2026 season:

• 2 Openings for our 7 month position - starting approximately mid March through end of October.


• 2 Openings for our 4 month position - starting approximately mid May through end of August.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for performing and assisting crew in a variety of general park maintenance duties along with small construction projects.


• Perform grounds maintenance including maintaining trees, mulching, mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, and litter removal.


• Responsible for daily bathroom cleaning and maintenance.


• Maintain park features such as sidewalks/paths, driveways/parking lots, planters, playgrounds, fountains, and more.
  


• Responsible for all field preparation and maintenance
  for events/game days.
  


• Operate hand, fuel, and electric-powered equipment like mowers, tractors, chain saws, and blowers.


• Plant flowers and apply mulch as needed.


• Conduct inspections and perform basic care for vehicles and equipment.


• Assist with repairs and general maintenance involving playground equipment, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and painting.


• Provide support for park facility construction and renovation based on skill level.


• Comply with all safety standards and ensure a safe work environment.


• Assist Park District staff as needed.

Job Requirements & Preferences:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.


• Experience or training in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related field is a plus.


• Familiarity with commercial mowers, tractors, and landscaping equipment preferred.


• Basic understanding of maintenance and repair techniques.


• Ability to read and follow operations manuals.


• Able to work independently and work under supervision.


• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.


• Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and community.


• Must be neat in appearance and dress appropriately for the job.


• Understand and implement the district’s mission and values statements as created and approved by the Park District Board

Hours & Schedule
Seasonal, non-exempt position from mid-March through end of October. Hours are typically Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm, with possible weekends, holidays, or extended hours (weather permitting).
