Job Description - Grounds Keeper

GROUNDS KEEPER JOB DESCRIPTION
Sorrel River Ranch is a Four Diamond luxury guest ranch located along the scenic Colorado River surrounded by 2,000-foot-high cliffs, buttes and mesas. This exclusive 240-acre riverside oasis is 17 miles from Moab, 21 miles from Arches National Park and 43 miles from Canyonlands National Park.
Position Summary
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of the ranch grounds. This role includes landscaping, basic maintenance, and general upkeep of outdoor areas, ensuring the ranch remains clean, organized, and welcoming. The ideal candidate enjoys outdoor work, is self-motivated, and takes pride in hands-on maintenance.
Position Responsibilities

Maintain lawns, fields, and landscaped areas (mowing, trimming, edging, watering)
Prune trees, shrubs, and plants; remove weeds and invasive growth
Maintain ranch roads, paths, fences, and gates
Clear debris, leaves, and trash from grounds and common areas
Assist with irrigation systems, sprinklers, and drainage upkeep
Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on outdoor structures
Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, tractors, etc.)
Monitor grounds for safety hazards and report issues promptly
Assist with seasonal projects such as planting, fire prevention, or storm cleanup
Support special events or guest preparations as needed

Qualifications

Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, ranch, or farm work preferred
Ability to safely operate basic landscaping and ranch equipment
Basic knowledge of plants, soil, and irrigation systems a plus
Ability to work independently and follow instructions
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Valid driver’s license preferred

Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
Ability to lift up to [50 lbs] and perform physically demanding tasks
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
Outdoor ranch setting with exposure to weather, dust, and animals
Flexible schedule may include early mornings, weekends, or seasonal hours
