Job Description - HEAT Intake Worker-Seasonal

The Southeastern Regional Development Agency is seeking a seasonal full-time HEAT (Home Energy Assistance Target) employee to join our team from October 2025 through April 2026, working 40 hours per week. This is a temporary position for the duration of the season, with consistent weekly hours. 
The HEAT Intake Worker will be responsible for determining client eligibility for HEAT utility assistance, adhering to Federal, State, and Southeastern Regional Development policies and procedures. This role involves providing excellent customer service, answering incoming utility assistance calls, scheduling HEAT appointments for clients, processing applications, offering energy-saving tips, and collecting necessary documentation in a timely manner.
Additionally, applicants must participate in outreach efforts within Carbon, Emery, Grand, and San Juan counties.

  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on customer service

  • Proficient with various internet and computer applications

  • Excellent problem solving and attention to detail skills

  • Representing the agency with professionalism

  • Must be dependable, regular attendance is critical

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to clients from different socioeconomic backgrounds

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Knowledge of community resources, agencies and referral procedures

  • Meeting timelines and deadlines

  • Must act as information liaison to public utility companies in a positive proactive manner

  • Attend weekly HEAT meetings

  • Must engage community partners and community members in a positive manner



Required Education




  • High School Diploma or GED


Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.


Must possess a valid Utah driver's license free of alcohol or drug violations.
