We’re on the lookout for a passionate and detail-driven Locum/Contract Pathologist (MD/DO) to join our team at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC), an Indian Health Service (IHS) facility, through Prairie Band Health Services (PBHS). Monday – Friday, 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule
Up to 1-year contract with possible extension
Local or travel locums welcome
Work authorized under any active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
Required Qualifications:
MD or DO with active Pathology experience
2–3 years of post-residency experience
Demonstrated experience in interpreting Pap smear (cervical cytology) specimens
Board certification in Pathology preferred
BLS certification required
Prior experience with Indian Health Services (IHS) or in a government healthcare setting preferred
Previous locum tenens experience helpful
Responsibilities:
Examine and interpret tissue, fluid, and cytology specimens to diagnose diseases
Specific responsibility for reading and interpreting Pap smears (cervical cytology)
Prepare accurate pathology reports and communicate findings to the care team
Collaborate with other medical professionals in multidisciplinary settings such as tumor boards
Perform autopsies when required
Provide guidance to laboratory staff and technologists
Participate in training of residents and medical students
Engage in continuing education and contribute to improvements in pathology practices
Additional Information:
Shift times and schedules are subject to change based on patient needs and hospital operations. Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary.

Prairie Band, LLC is subject to Title 22: Employment Code of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. In accordance with Title 22, this position is designated as a TIER 2 position. Preference will be given to individuals to the extent required pursuant to Section 22-2-4(B).

Requirements
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
Completion of a residency in pathology.
Board certification in pathology (AP/CP or specialty certification).
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pathology principles.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with medical advancements.
Must be a US Citizen, living primarily in the United States
Must be willing to submit to a federal background check
