Job Description - Incident Investigators

Job Overview


This position is responsible for investigative work to determine the cause and possible solution to a variety of incidents, including injuries, thefts, accidents, alarms, etc., during the San Diego County Fair (or non-fair time) at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.



Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:



  • Provides excellent customer service to guests, vendors, concessionaires, and sponsorship staff - communicate effectively, answering questions and providing directions when necessary.

  • Provides assistance to the various departments – focused mainly on public safety issues, investigations, guest, or vendor conflicts, etc.

  • Investigates a variety of incidents, including but not limited to, injuries, thefts, accidents, alarms, etc.  Complete a thorough well-written investigation of all necessary incidents and turn reports in within a timely manner.

  • Work closely with the private medical provider, ride investigators, dispatch, bike team, law enforcement, private security, etc. to ensure incidents are thoroughly investigated.

  • Monitors and responds to appropriate incidents communicated via the district radio or other means.

  • Complies with all safety policies, guidelines, and procedures.

  • Prepares and submits thorough reports and forms in a timely manner (by the end of the shift or if approved by the Investigations Supervisor the following day).

  • Performs other related duties as assigned when needed.

  • Promotes the District's F.A.I.R. values by creating a quality guest experience for both internal and external customers.


Qualifications




    • Excellent customer service, oral and written communications skills.

    • Good investigative skills and the ability to de-escalate aggressive situations.

    • Good judgement and professionalism.

    • Ability to work cooperatively with team members and other fairgrounds staff.

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.



    Working Conditions



    • Involves some exposure to hazards or physical risk that require following safety precautions.

    • Works indoors and outdoors and is exposed to weather conditions, dust, dirt, and exhaust fumes.  There can be extreme walking and moderate sitting (while writing reports) required during each shift.

    • Works a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and a holiday (July 4th)
