Intern - Refugee Support Services

The Refugee Support Services program at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as a Refugee Support Intern to assist our team in RCA, RSS, REMP, SOR, RPH, Career Pathway, RFIN, Data Entry and ESL Departments. The Intern will play a vital role in supporting our refugee clients in their integration process.

This is a Full-Time Temporary position. The duration will be 3 months.

Under the supervision of Program Manager, the duties of Intern will include but is not limited to the following duties:

• Work closely with case managers of different team to assist clients with accessing mainstream services in the community
• Assist team members in educating the clients to improve access to information about supportive services.
• Assist team members in helping the clients with applying for and maintaining public assistance benefits, including Medicaid, SNAP, and SSI.
• Assist the team members in developing opportunities for refugees to connect with their communities to avoid isolation, through resources such as mental health support, community navigators, and opportunities for engagement in social and cultural activities.
• Provide interpretation and translation services to older refugee clients.
• Ensure all data recording in client database is timely and accurate including client enrollments, services, referrals, and file closures. • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Manager. 

Required qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a non-profit or government setting, preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole, preferred.
