Description

Mystic Seaport Museum is seeking seasonal Historical Interpreters. Historical Interpreters bring the past to life for visitors of all ages and backgrounds by sharing stories, demonstrating historical skills, and making connections with the maritime world – past and present. Interpreters will work with the public in a variety of Museum exhibits, including children and family activity spaces, historic trades, and onboard historic vessels. 

Good Historical Interpreters can come from all different educational and professional backgrounds, so if you have a passion for history and enjoy working with the public, we want to hear from you! As an Interpreter, you will be immersed in a unique, exciting, educational, and fun environment that will challenge, delight, and surprise you every day.

Requirements

• Must be at least eighteen years of age
• Willingness to work at least one weekend day and on holidays
• Excellent communication skills
• Openness to learning and sharing stories with visitors of all ages and backgrounds 
• Individuals with teaching experience, public speaking experience, strong customer service skills, music performance ability (both vocal and instrumental), theatrical background, maritime knowledge, seamanship skills, and/or 19th-century trade skills are encouraged to apply
