Job Description - Intervention Specialist



JOB SUMMARY


Intervention Specialist works to support students with disabilities by assisting in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), coordinating special education services, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and outside agencies to ensure compliance with federal and state laws for educating students with disabilities. Key responsibilities include providing classroom accommodations, documenting student progress, serving on IEP and IAT teams, and maintaining accurate student records.

EDUCATION


High School Diploma or equivalent.


LICENSURE


None required.


EXPERIENCE


At least six months of experience as a school paraprofessional in the school setting within the last 2 years.


CREDENTIALS:



  • Criminal Background Check

  • National Sex Offender (OIG & GSA)

  • State of Bureau Criminal Investigation

  • License Primary Verification

  • FBI-Finger Prints#I


ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS


Various school facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Contract Dates: 4/27/2025-6/4/2026




  • Key Responsibilities



    1. IEP Development & Implementation:

    2. Design, implement, and monitor individualized education programs for students with disabilities.

    3. Collaboration:

    4. Work with regular education teachers, parents, and community agencies to support students in an inclusive setting.

    5. Service Coordination:

    6. Assist in the overall coordination of special education programs and ensure services are delivered effectively.

    7. Compliance & Reporting:

    8. Ensure adherence to federal and state laws for educating students with disabilities and prepare required reports.

    9. Data & Documentation:

    10. Administer and document data for individual student IEPs and maintain accurate student records.

    11. Consultation:

    12. Provide consultation to general education teachers on modifications and adaptations for special education students.


    Essential Skills



    1. Special Education Expertise:

    2. A strong understanding of federal laws (like IDEA) and Ohio rules regarding the education of students with disabilities.

    3. Communication & Collaboration:

    4. Excellent communication skills to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and other professionals.

    5. Data Management:

    6. Proficiency in data collection and documentation for IEPs.

    7. Adaptability:

    8. Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs in inclusionary settings.

    • Cross Cat SPED classroom
