The Davis Community requires that all current and new employees, including contract staff, receive an annual influenza vaccination and TB skin test unless a reasonable or disability accommodation is granted.

  

BASIC PURPOSE:

The Inventory Assistant is responsible for central supply duties including receiving ordered supplies, purchasing, inventory control, properly stocking and delivering supplies throughout the facility, and supporting the Central Supply Coordinator. 

MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:

1. Report any significant changes in inventory to the Director of Nursing.

2. Responsible for shipping and receiving of supplies ordered and ensuring product is not expired.

3. Ensure that the supply closets and the 02 rooms stay stocked with the supplies that they need for day-to-day nursing and for emergency situations. Coordinate oxygen therapy service regarding oxygen concentrators and related equipment.

4. Responsible for entering all products used for residents individually on a month-by-month basis for billing purposes. 

5. Keeping an inventory on all chem.-strips and making sure that they get billed to the right insurance. Example: Medicare A or Medicare B.

6. Processing labels new and existing for all chargeable inventory. 

7. Make sure that the lab stays stocked with what is needed. 

8. Maintain inventory levels in central supply through monitoring par levels; order (online) as indicated by inventory results; receive confirmation of order.

9. Support management/administration decisions through periods of change or stress.

10. Performs any other specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Central Supply Coordinator.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Work is performed indoors with controlled temperatures.
  • Low exposure to blood, body fluids and infectious diseases.
  • Exposure to some noise and stress.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to perform moderate math problems to accomplish par levels      and ordering tasks.
  • Physical exertion required at least 80% of the time. Physical exertion is described as      standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, lifting, and      carrying.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of objects 25-50 lbs and pushing of      objects weighing approximately 75-100 lbs. 
  • Basic word processing computer skills and ability to operate      office equipment.
  • Expected to respond in an emergency including the possibility of      evacuation of residents.
  • Physical job demands may be subject to possible modification to      reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  High school diploma or equivalent. 

Licensure/ Certification:  none required

Experience: At least 6 months of previous healthcare experience related to materials management. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
