Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychologist V


 


Department: Solutions, Services, and Capabilities (SSC)


Job Status: Full Time (40+ hrs.)


FLSA Status: Exempt


Reports To: Director, MAP or Sr. Director, SSC


Grade/Level: 5


Amount of Travel Required: <30%


Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (core hours 9am-3pm)


Positions Supervised: Supervisory


Work Location: Hybrid/Remote and client site


Citizenship Status: U.S. Citizen


Clearance: TS/SCI w/Poly preferred


 


 


Position Summary


At GSX the I/O Psychologist IV is a supervisory advanced or expert level position that will focus heavily on leading and managing work activities across the different work functions such as: Talent Development and Management, Workforce Development and Management, Competency Development and Management, Learning and Development, Credentialing, and Job Design. The I/O Psychologist IV will supervise junior I/O Psychologists (i.e. I/O I, II, and III). The I/O Psychologist IV will lead, guide and mentor staff in specific responsibilities including performing literature reviews; assisting in the development of surveys, testing, and training materials; administering data collection measures; analyzing data; and assisting in the development of project reports and provides support for implementing procedures and supporting project tasks. The I/O Psychologist IV can serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for psychometric analysis of test and item functioning using Classical Test Theory (CTT) and Item Response Theory (IRT). The I/O psychologist IV will provide guidance to I/O Psychologist I, II, III, IV and collaborate with the I/O Psychologist V to support client work and internal GSX initiatives. The I/O Psychologist IV will lead and manage quantitative and qualitative analytic efforts and provides guidance on the use of basic analytic tools. The I/O Psychologist IV will also provide support to GSX in Organizational and Talent Development Initiatives, Performance Management, Business Development, and Strategic Initiatives.

Essential Functions



Technical:



  • Apply expert or in-depth knowledge of test theory, psychometric methodology, and statistics to research and analyze data related to hiring, retention, and workforce analysis.



  • Conduct in-depth psychometric data analysis on assessments (i.e., pilot-tests, production, ongoing maintenance) and surveys (e.g., item-level, test-level, demographics, etc.) using CTT and IRT. Provide guidance to junior staff on psychometric analysis results interpretation.



  • Lead and manage analysis of job requirements (e.g. tasks and competencies) to support development of I/O and/or Human Resource testing and career development tools.



  • Guide and manage junior staff in the designing, development, implementation, and maintenance of certification programs.



  • Lead and manage junior staff in client work on certification implementation and maintenance through status updates, custom solutions, product adjustments, and process recommendations. Provide support and mentorship to junior staff.

  • Provide expertise in all aspects of the development and execution of certification assessments.

  • Provide expertise in job analyses to identify core tasks, competencies, and requirements for a variety of occupational series.

  • Lead and manage junior staff in the review and evaluation of position descriptions to ensure alignment with classification standards.

  • Provide expertise in the development of competency models and frameworks to support human capital management and organizational development.

  • Guide and mentor junior staff in developing evidence-based recommendations for job alignment, role clarity, and organizational efficiency.

  • Design and manage the execution of large and small group facilitation activities such as focus groups, workshops, listening sessions, and stakeholder engagements.

  • Manage or support junior staff in facilitating group sessions, guiding discussions and ensuring inclusive, productive participation.

  • Guide or assist project managers in project activity efforts, including planning, scheduling, logistics coordination, and stakeholder communication.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and high-quality deliverables.

  • Provide feedback to junior staff on technical and non-technical reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Provide technical support/expertise in the development of contract proposal specifically focusing on the technical work activities and hours.

  • Provide expertise and support to the COO and Director of Human Resources on internal talent development initiatives.

  • Conduct initial, mid-term, and annual performance feedback to supervisees.  



Requirements



Education: PH.D. in I-O Psychology or similar from an accredited university.


Experience: Minimum of 11 years’ experience in support of I/O development activities for government or commercial agencies.


Skills & Abilities: TBD


Technology Skills: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Suite and data analysis tools (e.g., Lertap, SPSS, R, or Python) for workforce and organizational analysis.


 


Work Environment


Work is performed primarily in office and occasionally working group or conference settings, in all weather conditions, though mostly indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate in other situations.
