Job Description - Lead Training and Technical Assistance Professional

About the role


The Lead Training and Technical Assistance Professional (TTAP) is a core member of Operation Connected Response (OCR), a statewide initiative designed to equip law enforcement officers with the skills and knowledge to respond to trauma with compassion, cultural awareness, and effectiveness. The Lead TTAP provides training, technical assistance, and coaching to law enforcement agencies across Texas. This role helps officers understand the impact of trauma on both themselves and the communities they serve, with an emphasis on reducing racial and ethnic disparities in the juvenile justice system. The Lead TTAP additionally mentoring and coordinating the TTAP team. This role ensures fidelity to OCR’s approach, gathers impact data, and drives continuous improvement across all project regions. 


What you'll do


Training and Facilitation 

  • Deliver trauma-informed care trainings to law enforcement officers and agencies statewide. 
  • Facilitate live webinars and create/maintain recorded trainings for ongoing learning access. 
  • Incorporate evidence-based approaches such as TBRI, NEAR Science, and cultural humility practices into training delivery. 
  • Tailor training to address the disproportionate impact of policing on youth and communities of color. 

Leadership & Coordination 

  • Support onboarding, mentoring, and coaching of contracted TTAPs. 
  • Ensure all trainings and technical assistance are aligned with OCR’s trauma- informed framework.  

Technical Assistance & Implementation Support 

  • Provide technical assistance to 100% of agencies or officers requesting support. 
  • Host bi-monthly virtual coaching calls to address questions, challenges, and implementation needs. 
  • Respond to requests through the OCR training request portal, email, and phone within required timelines. 
  • Support agencies in applying trauma-informed principles to policies, culture, and daily practice. 

Task Force Engagement 

  • Assist in planning and facilitation of the OCR Task Force, including up to five virtual monthly meetings during project years 2 and 3. 
  • Elevate the voices of law enforcement and community members to shape sustainable, equity-focused strategies. 
  • Share findings and feedback with the OCR team to inform continuous program improvement. 

 

Documentation & Accountability 

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of training sessions, technical assistance activities, and outreach through activity reports due by the end of each week. 
  • Submit invoices and service reports in compliance with contract requirements. 
  • Collect and share evaluations, impact stories, and data for grant reporting. 

 

Collaboration & Representation 

  • Actively contribute to the TTAP team by sharing resources, lessons learned, and best practices. 
  • Represent STARRY and OCR positively in all community, agency, and stakeholder interactions. 

Professional Development 

  • Complete all required training, including but not limited to HIPAA, Crisis Intervention, Cultural Humility, TBRI, and other Evidence-Based Curriculum. 
  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to Trauma-Informed Care. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, education, public administration, or related field (or equivalent experience). Master’s degree preferred.  
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in training, coaching, law enforcement, or justice-related systems. 
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership or coordination role. 
  • Demonstrated success in training of trauma-informed practices 
  • TCOLE Basic Instructor Certified 

Skills and Competencies 

  • Training & Facilitation: Skilled at delivering effective and engaging training for adult learners. 
  • Technical Assistance: Ability to provide individualized coaching and implementation support. 
  • Equity & Cultural Competence: Strong commitment to reducing racial and ethnic disparities, with skill in working across diverse communities. 
  • Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Organization: Strong documentation, time management, and accountability as a contractor.
