Adelphi is seeking Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) to provide behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, and therapeutic support to individuals in custody within a correctional facility in Whatcom County, Washington. The ideal candidate will have experience in correctional, forensic, or acute care environments, with a strong foundation in trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, and treatment planning for individuals with serious mental illness.

Requirements
• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field
• Current, active LMHC license in the State of Washington
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience (correctional, crisis, or community mental health settings preferred)
• Expertise in trauma-informed care, suicide prevention, and crisis de-escalation
• Familiarity with NCCHC standards and Washington State mental health laws (RCW 71.05, RCW 71.24)
• Excellent communication, documentation, and care coordination skills
• Ability to function effectively within a secure, multidisciplinary healthcare environment
• Must pass comprehensive background check and drug screening
• Current CPR/BLS certification (AHA-approved)
Responsibilities
• Conduct behavioral health screenings, intake evaluations, and suicide risk assessments.
• Provide short-term, solution-focused individual and group counseling services.
• Monitor and support individuals with serious mental illness, including those under suicide watch or detox monitoring.
• Respond to mental health crises and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, and custody to ensure integrated care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, reentry planning, and discharge coordination.
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Support compliance with NCCHC, applicable RCWs/WACs, and facility behavioral health protocols.
• Assist with quality improvement initiatives related to mental health service delivery.
