The Middle School Faculty are a collaborative and forward-thinking community of education professionals who are consistently looking for ways to create real-world, project-based experiences that help their students connect content in a relevant and impactful way. While they customize and personalize the learning for each course, this team is united in using an inquiry-based model and a mastery approach to teaching. The humanities team at Mount Vernon, uses an interdisciplinary approach to teach literature, history, and grammar concepts using projects, design thinking, expeditionary, and inquiry-based approaches.
The Grade 7 Humanities Long Term Substitute role facilitates the delivery of humanities curriculum including history, literature, and english language arts. This role meets with students daily and coordinates project-based learning using the assignments and unit outlines provided by the classroom instructor. Working collaboratively with the Grade 7 team, this role plays an important role in helping students develop foundational literacy skills in reading and writing while the classroom teacher is out on leave. This position will run from August 1 to October 15, 2025
