Maintenance Manager

Position Overview

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all maintenance activities within the nuclear power plant to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant performance. This role oversees mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems maintenance while ensuring compliance with NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) regulations, industry standards, and company policies. The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of supervisors, technicians, and support staff to optimize equipment reliability and extend plant life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership for the plant’s maintenance department, ensuring alignment with operational and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize plant efficiency and minimize unplanned outages.
• Manage daily maintenance activities, ensuring work is performed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Ensure compliance with NRC, INPO, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and project management teams to support plant modifications, upgrades, and outage planning.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes for equipment failures.
• Oversee contractor performance and ensure adherence to site safety and quality standards.
• Manage departmental budgets, staffing, training, and resource allocation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in reliability, work management, and human performance.
• Serve as a key member of the plant’s leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making and long-term asset management.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Nuclear Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 8+ years of experience in power plant maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of nuclear power plant systems, regulatory compliance, and maintenance practices.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multi-disciplinary teams.

Preferred:

• Experience with Work Management Systems (WMS) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Prior outage management and project leadership experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications.
