Job Description - Music Therapist

Adelphi is seeking Music Therapists to provide Music Therapy Services in a school district in Montgomery County, Virginia. The Music Therapist will provide appropriate therapeutic services to students through music-based evaluations, observations, and consultations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from an accredited institution (Master’s preferred).

• Current credential as a Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).

• Virginia does not require separate state licensure for music therapists; MT-BC is the recognized qualification.

• Experience in a school setting is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Assess referred students through music therapy evaluations and appropriate diagnostic practices.

• Develop and implement individualized music therapy plans based on student needs.

• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and related service providers to support student progress.

• Participate in student support meetings and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEP).

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes and eligibility reports.

• Maintain positive, professional relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public.

• Other duties as assigned.
