Outpatient Pharmacist

Position Highlights:

• Long-term contract with potential for extension 
• Outpatient pharmacy focus at Fort Yuma Health Center 
• 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week 
• Active license from any U.S. state accepted

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited pharmacy program/school 
• Active pharmacy license in any U.S. state 
• Minimum of 2 years’ pharmacy experience 
• Outpatient experience strongly preferred 
• Prior IHS or federal facility experience is a plus 
• Must be able to pass a federal background check
   

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately interpret and fill provider prescriptions for outpatients 
• Dispense medications with clear, culturally sensitive patient counseling 
• Monitor medication effectiveness and adherence through patient assessments 
• Manage outpatient pharmacy inventory and ensure compliance with storage and handling standards 
• Provide clinical guidance on safe medication use, potential side effects, and drug interactions 
• Work closely with medical staff to support continuity of care across the health center

Requirements

• Be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy program/school
• Previous contract experience is a plus
• Previous IHS facility experience helpful
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred
• Have a Pharmacist degree from a school of pharmacy approved by a state-accrediting agency
• Possess a current, active, unrestricted license from any of the 50 United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia.
• Maintain continuing education/certification
• Must be a US citizen, living primarily in the United States
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacist within the past 36 months
• References required
• Must meet all credentialing and background investigation requirements.
