Family Education Instructor


Stipend Opportunity



Reports to:  Family and Community Engagement Coordinator 



Summary Description:  The Family Education Instructor stipend opportunity is open to teachers who are committed to strengthening family-school partnerships and advancing educational equity. This role is designed to expand access to essential academic information by empowering families with the tools and confidence needed to support their child’s educational journey.
Instructors will lead workshops that help families navigate the school system, advocate for their children, and reinforce learning at home. Responsibilities include content development, cross-grade level alignment (TK–8), material preparation, and workshop facilitation. All sessions will be aligned to organization-wide learning goals and student achievement priorities to ensure families across all grade levels receive meaningful and relevant support.


 


Duties and Responsibilities: 


Instructional Planning & Content Development:



  • Design Inclusive, Aligned, and Impactful Parent Workshops

    • Anchor all content to clear, organization-wide learning objectives that empower families to support student success. 

    • Workshop topics will include: English Language Learner Assessments, Literacy, Math, Science, Social Emotional Learning. 

    • Create materials that reflect families' languages, cultures, and experiences to foster connection and trust.

    • Use clear language, visuals, and multiple formats to ensure understanding across diverse education and language levels.

    • Use family input and data to refine materials and delivery, ensuring ongoing relevance and effectiveness.





Family Workshop Facilitation:



  • Facilitates interactive and engaging sessions for parents across all grade levels (TK-8).

  • Provide bilingual or translated support (with liaison collaboration) to reach diverse families.

  • Foster an environment where families feel heard, empowered, and valued.



Collaboration and Communication:



  • Work closely with the FACE  and Learning & Innovation team to align content with org-wide family engagement goals.

  • Participate in planning meetings to coordinate logistics, co-facilitate sessions, and share best practices.

  • Assist in gathering feedback from families and reflect on data to improve future sessions.



Material Preparation:



  • Create grade-level content/presentation in English and Spanish.

  • Develop digital and print-ready resources for family take-home packets or make-it take-its.

  • Coordinate closely with the FACE Team to compile materials for sessions at least two weeks ahead of the scheduled session.



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to communicate with empathy and cultural responsiveness.

  • Organized and proactive in preparing materials and engaging with families.

  • Ability to engage the audience across varied literacy levels and home languages (Spanish).



Required Education and Experience:



  • Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in a classroom setting.

  • Experience in facilitation or public speaking is preferred.

  • Bilingual/biliterate preferred (Spanish).



Anticipated Additional Duties (≈3.5 hours/week of workshop)



  • 1.5 hour/week of session planning and preparation

  • 1 hour/week communicating with the department 

  • 1 hour/week facilitating content during the workshop sessions

  • Collect attendance and feedback from families and submit session summaries.



Compensation



  • $1,440 per school year. There are 24 sessions in the year - 3 Series of 4 sessions for each Math & Literacy during Fall, Winter, Spring semesters.
