The Town of Winter Park is hiring for our Seasonal Parks, Garden and Events Crew positions! The purpose of these crews is to provide support to the Public Works, Parks, Events and Trails staff involved in creating exceptional experiences for our guests and residents with our garden and beautification programs, parks, trails and special event programs.
These seasonal positions perform skilled and unskilled labor involving light equipment operation, assisting in the maintenance of ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees, maintenance work and support services for events, parks and trails. The seasonal positions will begin in May and may continue through early October and will require weekend and overtime schedules. Hiring range is $21 – $23 an hour based on experience and qualifications.
Candidates must be at least eighteen years of age, must have a valid driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Driving of vehicles, equipment and ATV is a requirement of the job and Town may disqualify applicants due to MVR under Town policy. Job frequently requires physical effort requiring lifting of objects weighing from 25 to 50 plus pounds. Work generally will take place under outdoor weather conditions and may include adverse weather conditions.
All positions are subject to a screening process including criminal history and proof of a safe driving record. Positions are open until filled. EOE

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Parks Superintendent and Public Works Director, this seasonal position performs skilled and unskilled labor involving light equipment operation and maintenance work of a primarily physically demanding nature.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
· High School Diploma or GED required
Experience:
· No previous experience required.
Certification:
· None required.
General:
· Valid State Driver’s License
· Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
GUIDELINES

COMPLEXITY
Work requires ability to follow direction.

Work generally will take place under outdoor weather conditions and may include adverse weather conditions.
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES
· If you are unable to report for work, you must notify your supervisor before your shift starts; failure to notify your supervisor may result in dismissal. Overtime must be preauthorized by your supervisor.
· Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times.
