The Payment Processing Lead is responsible for maintaining control accounts for processing unidentified, split payments, as well as performing additional account research and reconciliations. The Lead verifies the accuracy of refund packets, accepts, adjusts, and disputes chargebacks. This position trains clerks in payment and revenue processes while also assisting management with workload, deadline changes, and change awareness among staff. This position will assist in completing all payment processing tasks as needed. Ensures that established procedures are followed and reports any issues to upper management.
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains control accounts for processing unidentified and split payments; performs additional account research and account reconciliation daily.
Verifies refund packets for accuracy, accepts, adjusts, and disputes chargebacks, and corresponds with customers as required.
Trains clerks on payment processing and revenue functions and provides refresher training as needed.
Supports and ensures clerks are informed of daily workload and deadline changes as set by upper management; fills in where needed to complete payment processing tasks.
Complies with, and ensures clerks are in compliance with established procedures and instructions, updates procedures as necessary.
Monitors clerk key performance indicators and metrics established for each payment processing function and reports account and procedural issues to upper management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of payment processing, cash controls and reconciliation
Knowledge of Payment Reject, Lockbox, Unidentified, NSF, Refund, Credit Card, Chargebacks Process
Knowledge of settlements and large payments
Skill in mathematical calculations
Skill in computer operations
Ability to train clerks on all processes within Payment Processing
Ability to exercise good judgement, making decisions with minimal supervision
Ability to work independently
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and various spreadsheet programs
Physical Demands
This position requires a substantial amount of walking, some standing, sitting in an office environment, and light lifting such as three or four reams of paper or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required.
Required Education / Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum two (2) years' experience in payment processing or banking environment.
