Job Description - Peer Recovery Coach

Job Title: Peer Recovery Coach
Department: Arbor Youth Resource Center
Location: Ukiah, CA
Status: Temporary - One (1) Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: $21.00 - $28.40 per hour (DOE) / Additional Differentials Must Qualify
Open Date: July 1, 2025
Close Date: Open Until Filled



Pay Differentials Offered (must qualify through testing or verification):



  • Language Translation - Bi-cultural Spanish: $1.00 per hour

  • Bimodal Bilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $1.00 per hour

  • Bimodal Multilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $2.00 per hour


Overview:


Assist with maintaining a welcoming atmosphere by meeting and supporting youth participants. Support the social, behavioral, educational, and vocational guidance of Restorative Justice Youth Court participants. Assists in providing self-care/behavior training and leading rehabilitative groups for clients as required by each individual’s client plan; one-on-one behavioral support by performing the following duties.


Key Responsibilities: 



  • Participates in Ukiah Valley Youth Leadership Coalition meetings, and Restorative Justice Youth Court subcommittee meetings.

  • Demonstrates activities that address the purpose of the Rehabilitative group and individual client plan.

  • Follows the State Mental Health and County Mental Health guidelines for any service being provided.

  • Provide authorized services only, unless directed by the Clinical Director to provide additional unauthorized services.

  • Converses with clients to reinforce positive behaviors and to promote social interaction.

  • Leads therapeutic activities, such as physical exercises, occupational arts and crafts, and recreational games with clients

  • Assess the risk of clients and prevent injury to themselves and others.

  • Observe and document client behaviors, to facilitate assessment and development of treatment goals.


Qualifications:



  • Care Manager I: An individual who has less than two (2) years of FTE experience in mental health related field providing direct mental health service.

  • Care Manager II: An individual who has at least two (2) years but less than four (4) years of FTE experience in a mental health related field providing direct mental health services.

  • Care Manager III: An individual who has at least four (4) years of full-time/equivalent (FTE) experience in a mental health-related field providing direct mental health services. Up to two (2) years of the four (4) years of experience can be substituted by years of education in a mental health-related field. There is a minimum requirement of two (2) years of actual work experience.


* *The education requirement for a Care Manager III - must be a minimum of two (2) years of education (60 semester or 90 quarter units) with a minimum of 12 semesters (18 quarter) units in a mental health-related subject area such as child development, social work, human behavior, rehabilitation, psychology, or alcohol and drug counseling.


Conditions of Employment:



  • Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License, current auto insurance, and a clean DMV printout (no more than 3 points).

  • Must pass a clear background check with DOJ & FBI.

  • CPR and First Aid Certified.

  • TB Exam and Physical at the time of employment.


Training Provided:



  • RCS provides an in-depth onboarding and training orientation, which includes CPR/First Aid, Crisis Communication/Pro-ACT, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative Problem Solving, introductions to all RCS departments, and other valuable trainings.
