We are seeking a hands-on Pilot Plant Technician to support the scale-up and production of our Just Egg products at our Alameda headquarters. This is a contract position with an immediate start date and strong potential to convert to a full-time, long-term role.

As a key member of the Pilot Plant Production Team, you will support daily operations by executing processing steps, maintaining equipment, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that drive innovation in our plant-based egg production.

Responsibilities

• Execute pilot-scale experiments according to defined protocols and schedules


• Support key processing operations such as extraction, pasteurization, spray drying, and other Process Sciences initiatives


• Operate and monitor pilot plant equipment, ensuring proper setup, ingredient prep, in-process monitoring, and sanitation


• Maintain detailed, accurate documentation, including experiment trackers, process parameters, observations, and outcomes


• Assist in developing and revising batch records and standard operating procedures (SOPs)


• Participate in troubleshooting and root cause investigations for equipment and process deviations


• Align daily tasks with production schedules and operational goals


• Ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment that meets safety and GMP standards


• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, QA, and Engineering to support technology transfer and process optimization


• Contribute to the success of Just Egg and our broader mission to build a healthier, more sustainable food system

What You’ll Bring

• High School Diploma or GED required; Technical training or Associate’s degree preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience)


• Minimum 2 years of experience in food production, process sciences, or pilot plant operations


• Strong understanding of equipment operation, sanitation protocols, and continuous improvement


• Excellent organizational and communication skills; proactive and eager to learn


• Commitment to safety, collaboration, and driving operational excellence

Additional Details

• Location: Alameda, CA (on-site, 5 days/week)


• Employment Type: Contract (Immediate start), with potential for full-time conversion


• Schedule: Full-time; shift flexibility may be required based on production needs
