Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and manage psychiatric disorders.
• Contract position: 2 days per week in our Sherman and or McKinney location.
• Coordinate appropriate follow-up care, referrals, and case management.
• Perform crisis interventions and medication management in emergencies.
• Develop and implement long-term and short-term emergency treatment plans.
• Build effective partnerships and resource-sharing networks with other medical and psychological staff in the practice.
• Serve as a resource in the evaluation and management of psychiatric disorders for primary care staff.
• Examines patient for symptoms of organic, congenital, or acquired disorders and determines nature and extent, performs comprehensive examinations, referring to diagnostic tests, and utilizes medical instruments and equipment when appropriate.
• Provide detailed and consistent medical information into the patient's electronic medical record utilizing the electronic patient record system.
• Order and perform diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, interpret associated test results for deviations from normal baseline, and provide follow-up treatment plans.
• Develop and implement patient management plans and assist in the provision of continuity of care.
• Actively participate in Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement activities, and staff meetings.
• Thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment while balancing the individual client's focus and needs.
• Utilized computer skills, including a functional knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word, and an electronic health record system to manage client records.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills and maintained a cooperative working relationship with others in a culturally diverse environment.
• Collaborated with the team to facilitate the coordination of patient care at the unit level.
• Through the utilization of the nursing process, diagnoses are made and treated, and patient and family responses to documented or potential health problems are addressed.
• Utilized clinical resources in implementing patient care and providing rationale for patient care decisions.

Education:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus in Psychiatric-Mental Health.

Licensure:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in the same state.

Certifications:

• Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
• Ability to possess and maintain adequate/required Professional Liability Insurance policy.
• Comply with prescription drug monitoring program regulations, including, but not limited to, registration and use.
• Possess and maintain all accreditations, certifications, and credentials necessary and appropriate to enable the nurse practitioner to perform, and the company to bill for, the services.
• Remain a Medicare and Medicaid Provider in the State where healthcare services are provided.
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as thorough knowledge about the various medical processes and procedures.
• Ability to function well independently, as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and ability to work productively and effectively.

Prescriptive Authority:

• DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
• State-level prescriptive authority

Physical Requirements:

• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
• May require long periods of sitting and standing.
• Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to communicate verbally by phone or in person.
• Effective communication skills and emotional resilience are essential for providing support to patients facing mental health challenges.
