Registered Nurse Inpatient Mother & Baby Unit (24/7 Shifts)

Job Type: Full-time | Government Contract 

Wisestaff is hiring RNs for NMCP’s Inpatient Mother-Baby Unit. Portsmouth sits along the Elizabeth River with quick drives to Virginia Beach’s shoreline, eclectic Norfolk arts, and family-friendly Chesapeake suburbs—ideal for nurses who want beach life without a travel contract. Provide couplet care in 12-hour day (0645-1915) or night (1845-0715) shifts; weekend/holiday rotation required.

Key Duties

• Deliver evidence-based postpartum and newborn couplet care.
• Assess maternal/newborn status, manage lactation, pain and education.
• Stabilize newborns post-delivery; support kangaroo care and breastfeeding.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies (Code Pink, OB hemorrhage).
• Document care in MHS GENESIS per Joint Commission standards.

Requirements

• Active RN license (any U.S. state/territory).
• BLS (AHA) and current NRP certification.
• 1+ year recent L&D, Postpartum, or Mother-Baby experience.
• Ability to obtain base clearance and meet immunization requirements.
