Job Description - Registered Nurse (RN)

JOB OVERVIEW

• Shift Schedule: 40 hours/week, Shifts: Mon–Sun, 8-hour shifts (Specific days TBC)

• Case Mix: Chronic care, trauma, primary care

FACILITY INFORMATION
• No. of Beds in Department: TBC
• Trauma Level: TBC
• EMR System: TBC (Bureau of Prisons EMR)
• Office Equipment Available: TBC
• Specialty Backup Available: Advanced Practice Providers, Physicians
• Support Staff Available: BOP Medical Team
• Reason for Coverage: Temporary supplemental coverage

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

• Credentialing Timeline: Estimated 3–12 weeks for full onboarding

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Rate:  Start $47- $50/hr

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
• Medication administration (oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular)
• Basic first aid and emergency care
• Venipuncture
• EKG and lab equipment operation

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Licenses: Active unrestricted RN license in any State or U.S. territory
• Certifications: BLS
• Experience: RN experience required. Must not have had any negative employment terminations within the past 36 months.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide ambulatory nursing care, evaluations, and treatments.
• Assist in procedures, triage, and medication administration.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Review diagnostic test results and document follow-up.
• Respond to emergencies and provide trauma/lifesaving care.
• Manage daily clinic operations and conduct sick call.
• Adhere to institutional standards and infection control policies.
• Screen for gross mood changes and support mental health patients.
• Coordinate care with physicians and advanced practice providers.
• Follow security protocols and maintain patient confidentiality.
