COURSE HOSTING SERVICES - Independent Contractor Opportunity

About This Position: 

This is a freelance position. You must be an established Independent Contractor to be considered. This Independent Contractor opportunity will begin with up to 15 hours per week during the initial 1 to 2 months, while becoming familiar with our platform and courses, and while sitting in with other hosts to observe. Once fully phased in, you’ll be hosting solo for up to 20 hours per week. You must be available to provide hosting services during the hours our live sessions are offered, which are based on Pacific time. We offer courses in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings and prefer those with schedule flexibility to accommodate the spectrum of course slots. This contract will pay $25-30 per hour dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Qualifications, Responsibilities & Requirements:

This opportunity requires a fine balance of people and technical skills, including administration of the Zoom platform, greeting faculty in the Green Room, seamlessly presenting and hosting live course sessions and break-out groups, effectively and smoothly communicating with teachers and students alike. You must have an ability to think on your feet, read the energy of the room, and respond appropriately to the situation at hand, with TLC.

Responsibilities include:

• Independent hosting and driving of 1-5 live Zoom sessions per week, with each session requiring up to approximately 4 hours of hosting services


• Representing the The Shift Network in a professional, warm, engaging and trustworthy manner; interfacing appropriately and professionally with the students, faculty, and staff involved in each course


• Seamless operation of technology including the Zoom platform, ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software, including external cameras, microphones, stream pre-recorded presentations when included, etc.


• Responsive and clear communication with the production teams and faculty for each course you host, attending agreed upon Host meetings and staying informed

Qualifications and Experience Required:

• 2-3 years Zoom hosting online, administrative experience, excellent customer support skills, and ability to read a room


• Experience in hosting zoom programs, online, with comfort and confidence in public speaking


• Competence and confidence with technology platforms and internet, including:

• Knowledge of transformational content, including leading teachers, schools of thought, and market trends preferred


• Must have an established, fully-functional hosting space with reliable office equipment including modern computer, high-speed internet connection, ethernet, high-speed connectivity, and a quiet environment to host public programs 


• 1-2 years remote office experience, strongly preferred
