Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA), Targeted Case Manager to join our care team. This role provides direct support to individuals with substance use disorders, combining counseling services with case management. The CDCA helps clients understand their unique needs, develop recovery plans, and access resources that promote long-term wellness and stability. All services are provided under required supervision in alignment with Ohio’s scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted case management (TCM) services that connect clients to housing, employment, healthcare, recovery programs, mental health care, and other community resources.
     
  • Support the implementation and coordination of treatment plans and assessments developed by clinical assessors, under appropriate supervision.
     
  • Serve as an intermediary support, clearly documenting and communicating with the Peer Recovery Support (PRS) team, clients, and clinicians.
     
  • Provide individual interventions related to behavioral health and substance use disorders.
     
  • Offer crisis intervention and educational services tailored to each client’s needs.
     
  • Build supportive, professional relationships with clients while maintaining healthy boundaries.
     
  • Accurately document services, client progress, and case management activities in compliance with state, agency, and payer requirements.
     
  • Collaborate with supervisors, treatment teams, and external providers to ensure holistic, recovery, and mental health-oriented care.
     
  • Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices.

Qualifications

  • Active CDCA Preliminary (I) or Renewable CDCA (II) preferred,  issued by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board:
     
    • CDCA Preliminary I: Requires 40 hours of approved training; valid 13 months; non-renewable.
       
    • Renewable CDCA II- Preference given.  Requires an additional 30 hours of education after holding a CDCA Preliminary for at least 10 months; renewable every 2 years.
       
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in behavioral health, social work, or human services preferred.
     
  • Experience working in behavioral health, recovery, or social service settings. .
     
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
     
  • Demonstrated ability to support individuals with recovery and mental health needs with empathy, professionalism, and resilience.

Supervision

  • CDCA professionals may only provide case management services under supervision of one of the following:
     
    • Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor-Clinical Supervisor (LICDC-CS), Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC), or Chemical Dependency Counselor III (LCDC III).
       
    • Licensed physician, psychologist, registered nurse (if within scope), or advanced practice nurse.
       
    • Licensed professional clinical counselor, independent social worker, or independent marriage and family therapist (if within scope).
       
  • A CDCA may not practice as an independent provider.
  • Navita Health provides the appropriate supervisor with designated, required monthly supervision and quality check-in meetings.

Work Environment

  • Office, community-based, and/or telehealth settings.
  • Regular interaction with individuals and families affected by substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health conditions.
