Responsibilities
- Operate band saws and other cutting equipment to cut structural steel to required lengths and angles.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists to ensure accurate cuts.
- Verify dimensions and tolerances using tape measures, squares, and precision measuring tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
- Handle and stage heavy steel materials using overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while following company safety policies.
- Communicate with supervisors and fabricators to meet production deadlines.
- Assist with loading/unloading steel and other general shop duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating saws or cutting equipment in a fabrication or metalworking shop preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, cut lists, and follow written/verbal instructions.
- Strong math skills and proficiency with measuring tools.
- Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging a plus.
- Safety-conscious with reliable attendance and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
