Job Description - Seasonal Assistant Studio Manager

We Want You! 

New York Pilates is thrilled to welcome a Seasonal Assistant Studio Manager (ASM) to support our team during the peak summer season. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, thrives in a high-paced environment, and is passionate about the NYP brand. You will lead the studio team, take full ownership of daily operations, and ensure the best possible client experience.

This role provides independent oversight of the studio and its staff, including managing the schedule (via When I Work), handling call-outs, overseeing facility issues, maintaining brand standards, and driving studio sales. You are a confident, service-oriented leader with operational and interpersonal savvy who sets the tone for your team and community.

This is a seasonal (May-August), full-time position and is not commission-eligible. Weekly compensation is based on the seasonal schedule.


Roles & Responsibilities

Sales and Profit

  • Own daily studio operations and financial performance during scheduled shifts
  • Serve as Active Manager on Duty, driving daily, weekly, and monthly studio goals
  • Execute sales strategies for:
    • Memberships
    • Class & Private Packages
      Retail
  • Manage studio check-ins, bookings, and POS operations in MindBody Online

People & Teams

  • Lead and manage all studio staff independently during your seasonal schedule
  • Own and manage the studio schedule (When I Work), daily assignments, and accountability
  • Handle call-outs and reassignments with autonomy
  • Foster a strong, positive studio culture and community
  • Support identifying recruiting needs in studio
  • Lead training and coaching of studio team members
  • Lead by example in hospitality, professionalism, and sales

Students & Community

  • Champion the student experience—on-site, online, and in communication
  • Build and maintain strong student relationships
  • Confidently manage customer service challenges and conflict resolution
  • Ensure brand-aligned hospitality and frontline engagement
  • Serve as a connector between students, instructors, and staff

Brand & Operations

  • Maintain studio standards of cleanliness, organization, and visual presentation
  • Oversee inventory, supplies, and retail displays
  • Serve as point of contact for external vendors (cleaning, maintenance, deliveries)
  • Perform basic equipment and facility checks and repairs
  • Open and close the studio in accordance with NYP procedures
  • Report to the Studio Manager and collaborate to ensure seamless operation

Business Acumen

  • Maintain accurate reporting and compliance during all shifts
  • Balance multiple operational priorities with limited oversight
  • Track and communicate studio needs for staffing, inventory, and student care to your direct Manager

Flexibility and Resilience

  • Embrace seasonal responsibilities and adjust quickly to shifting studio needs
  • Lead by example in navigating fast-paced, high-volume days
    Remain solution-oriented and proactive, especially during weekends and holidays


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in retail, hospitality, or studio operations leadership
  • Must be able to commit fully to the 18-week seasonal schedule
  • Available for consistent weekend coverage (Thursday–Monday) during June–August 
  • Highly organized with excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable managing teams and resolving conflicts independently
  • Passion for fitness and the NYP brand
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods

Competitive Compensation💸

Things we take into account when calculating the compensation are global averages per skillset, your local cost of living, your skills, and your experience. For the Seasonal ASM you will be compensated at $30/hr for 18 weeks (about $21,000).
